Maharashtra State Board Curriculum

The Merry Angel’s School provides a Maharashtra State Board Curriculum based on the recent National Education Policy. To understand the new practices, parents may make an appointment with the Principal or the Executive or the Administrative Head of School.

The new curriculum will be based on Project-based learning with 6C’s – Critical thinking, Creativity, Collaboration, Communication, Character, and Community Citizenship based on Compassion with emphasis on Self-Awareness, Self-Management, Social Awareness, Relationship Skills, and Responsible Decision-Making.

Critical Thinking Skills

Critical Thinking Skills meaning that the subject content that is being taught will include some analysis, interpretation, inference, explanation, self-regulation, open-mindedness, and problem-solving.

Creativity

Creativity meaning that the subject content will include exercises that will involve questions to solve that with new ideas by thinking in different directions and other perspectives to arrive at a solution.

Collaboration

Collaboration means that students are provided opportunities to work together, learning ways to communicate clearly and effectively, while listening actively and taking responsibilities of one’s tasks while working in a diverse group of talents and skills.

Character & Community

Character and Community are essential characteristics for a solid personality growth of one self and society. Appropriate lessons will be provided to ensure character traits of integrity, open mindedness, respect of diversity and justice prevails in action and words.

Communication

Communication means that students will learn how to respond to verbal and nonverbal forms of communication, while learning how to deliver, share information through written word, audio and video forms of communication.

Self-Awareness & Self-Management, Social Awareness, Relationship Skills, and Responsible Decision-Making

Self-Awareness & Self-Management, Social Awareness, Relationship Skills, and Responsible Decision-Making are an integral part of evolution.
Self Awareness and Self Management is learning about one’s strength, weakness while setting boundaries for self, being focused, and taming the emotional triggers and practicing self-discipline are keys for self-management.
Social Awareness is regulating one’s own and tuning to the needs of others’ emotional world, while being mindful of others’ perspectives. This will lead to demonstration of empathy, compassion and a sense of gratitude.
Relationships and Responsible Decision making is the essence of work in society. Team spirit and team work is determined by the synergy of each person working together towards a shared goal with commitment and dedication.

Examination

Assessments are administered to check the understanding and evaluate whether the educational goals are met. The first unit test is during the middle of July, with term exams in October, with multiple tests and projects with a final exam at the end of the year. Project based assessments will be determined by skills sets mentioned in each subject.
